Technology news: Halo:Reach finally reaches eager fans

In my opinion, many people must be really happy that the games has finally been out after a long waiting,probably after this there will be less complains from the fans. Halo is a really popular video game for Xbox produced by Bungi, this game is the last of the halo series. Halo is a combat shooting game in a first person's view,it has amazing sound effects and graphics, as a player myself, I've only played one of the game series myself,thus I could understannd why many people like it so much, it has nearly over 2.7 million fans!I do hope there will be positive feedbacks about the last halo game as it is the last game in the halo saga

Reflection

3 new things I have learnt this term, one of them was the importance of unity. One of the secret ingredient to a successful performance was unity, because without it everything would be in a mess and nobody would enjoy the performance we put up. The other thing I learnt was time management, an important skill required in Home Econs. Without a good time management skill, we would not do a good job out of it thus, time management is an important skill I learnt this term. Lastly, I learnt something important from the camp I went to, and that is team spirit, when we are in a team full of strangers we have to learn to cooperate with each other, get to know each other than the usual people we hang out with, we' ll find out the people we work with are better than we think.

Two things I would like to improve on is history and socialbility. I would'nt say I don't like history because I find that history is interesting, I aim to improve on my history by trying to read it more often and getting to know it, as a quiet girl, I aim to try to talk more often and be more brave in many ways as socialbility is important to us in many ways, as we grow up, we need to interact with more people from around the world.

Lastly, the one thing I would like to learn is making paper cranes, it is an interesting hobby to do when we have free time and it is also a very good hand exercise for people playing piano as piano requires alot of fingering movements for them. I hope that the things I learnt this term would be useful in the future for me.

Living in Singapore

There are many reasons why people live in Singapore, each time if somebody ask a local, they would give many different positive answers. Singapore has many unique things to talk about, the buildings, the road names, the food and many more. Buildings like the esplanade which is shaped like a durian, the merlion, the flyer, and recently, the sky garden. Singapore also have fun places to go like Escape theme park and Universal Studios. Singapore is also surrounded by many trees, I remember the time I went to Hongkong, Macau, there were nearly no trees at all while Singapore has so many. There are many different people in Singapore, people from China, Thailand, the Philipines , Malaysia and Australia, New Zealand and many more. In school, there are students from different countries, scholars from Indonesia ,Philipines and Malaysia. I remember a scholar friend of mine, would always comment how nice and unique Singapore is. Singapore is also a country full of many races, chinese,malay,indians, peranakans and hindi people. On Racial harmony day, they would come in their traditional costume and tell us more about their culture and language. This is what I like about Singapore

Myth legends, folklores and fairytales

The two stories I've selected is "Eliza and Athena" and "The Monkey and the Crocodile". Eliza and Athena is about a princess named Eliza who was very lazy and can't even do the simplest things herself and had always called the servants to help her, finally one day, a father ,the king, decided to punish her by setting a room with just a loom and told her to loom a blanket and Eliza called for Athena. Mostly the story is about laziness and how ants came about. The Monkey and the Crocodile is mainly about being smart. It is about a crocodile's wife wanting to eat a monkey's heart, so the crocodile went and try to cach a monkey from a tree but in the end the crocodile fail to do so. I like Ëliza and Athena"the best as it teaches us not to be lazy when doing things

Food and Culture

I love many local food in Singapore like Chinese food and many more. One of my favourite food is seafood in Singapore, I love seafood like prawns,fish,tofu and many more as all of them are really nutritious. I also like spicy food like laksa , curry chicken and chilli crab. Whenever my family goes to a seafood restaurant they would sometimes order chilli crab which is expensive as well as deliciousbecause it is spicy but the meat is not. Laksa is one of the spicy food I tasted, it is a malay dish but it is also really spicy that I have to drink alot of ice water. Curry chicken is another malay dish I love, my grandmother sometimes cook it for us to eat, it is also hot and spicy.I also like Nasi lemak, yet again another malay dish. My mother would sometimes buy it for me whenever I come back for lunch, the chicken and luncheon meat are really delicious it it is not spicy but sweet.

My next favourite food is the japanese food in singapore, sometimes me and my family would go to a japanese restaurant for dinner we would order sushi and many more, I love the udon noodle and katsu curry over there the noodle with the soup is really good and healthyand the katsu curry is not hot at all, I also love the prawn sushi over there sometimes we buy it for nightsnack sometimes.

HISTORY LESSON: Life During the Japanese Occupation

During the Japanese occupation, some people were placed in prison where all prisoners with different races, customs and religions were forced to behave naturally. Everyone in there had to shower together under a long pipe with only a piece of soap. They had to be quick in their actions on whatever they had to do. Some prisoners passed away from infections like dysentery which caused severe diarrhoea. One of the ominous policies of the Japanese was the wartime exploitation of women. Women were forced into flesh trade which was mainly known as prostitution and there was also force labour in those days. Japanese schools were also opened in those days, one of the school rules was that if you see a soldier along the corridors of the school, you have to bow to him if not the students would get brutal beatings by the Japanese

Educators say schools are the best starting points for integration matters

In my opinion, I would also agree that when it comes to the matter of integration matters, school is a great starting point for everybody. Many people are usually comfortable with local schools as they are able to communicate easily. Foreign students may feel uncomfortable in a school that is not their religion but as they get along with the local students, they will not feel left out in school and the local and foreign students could learn more about their country and culture

Did SBS Transit drop the ball on NEL breakdown?

In my opinion, the transport operator should have informed the commuters about the breakdown and they also should have make an announcement about it. They also should give advices about what to do when train services resume. If people were not informed about the situation, they may get hurt.

When someone asks for your opinion ,do you give them an honest answer? Why or Why not?

When people asks me for my opinion , most of the time I would give them an honest answer. Why? When sometimes people asks for their opinion whether is it on work or clothes, it is best to give them a straight and honest answer so that the person asking for our opinion they would know what we think of it . They would also think about our opinions if it is good or not, it is best to just give your opinions on a situation, that is why I always prefer to give an honest opinion. If we don't give an honest opinion example, to our friend who is trying on a dress and asks about our opinion, if we give a dishonest answer and say she looks good in it and she should buy it when she actually looks bad in it, she would feel disappointed with us for lying to her and she may not trust us again. At some situations, we give a dishonest answer just to make her feel better as she may feel more hurt if we give her the honest answer. In actual fact, we should always give the honest answer and also give her some advice about what she should do instead of lying and later feel bad about giving her a dishonest answer. The outcome of giving a dishonest maybe losing trust and faith in your friend. The outcome of giving an honest answer maybe gaining the trust of a friend, reliability and faithfulness. This is why we should give an honest answer at all times.

Sam: Hello , what are you doing?
Pump Attendant: I am pumping in petrol into your father's car
Sam: What for?
Pump Attendant: Your father needs petrol to help him travel different places , right now your father's car is nearly out of petrol.
Sam: Is everyone around this place doing the same thing as you are now?
Pump Attendant: Yes, we are, our job here is to help drivers to pump their cars with petrols
Sam: How long does it take for you to pump petrol into the cars?
Pump attendant: It does not take much though but to kill time, drivers may go to the convinient store right over there to buy things like drinks and food.
Sam:Then why don't he people in the store help you?
Pump Attendant: The people in there and here does different job, the people inside works as a cashier while over here we help to pump petrols only .
Sam: Thats interesting, what else could you tell me about this job?
Pump Attendant: You interested in working here?
Sam: I am just curious.
Pump Attendant: Well everyday there will be people driving here to pump their cars with petrols from day to night if they run out of petrol , the car would stop moving.
Sam: Is this the only petrol station?
Pump Attendant: Of course not, there are more than one petrol stations around so, they could drive to the nearest station for petrol.
Sam: No wonder sometimes my dad comes here!
Pump Attendant: Alright your father's car is ready I better get over to the other side, Take care.
Sam: Okay you too!

What i learned about Anne Frank,Bruno and the War

I learned from Anne Frank is that writing in a journal or a diary is one of the ways to express how we feel about today and remember what happened about that day.In her diary , she wrote about her daily life and how she felt about the world war II. During the war she wrote down that the nicest part was being able to write down all her thoughts and feelings about what is going on.
What I learned from Bruno is about friendship and loyalty , although Bruno was a german , he still helped Shmuel in many ways. Bruno also tried to make up for his mistake by helping shmuel to find his father in the concentration camp .In the beginning Bruno was also curious about the Jews and the concentration camp . What I learned from the war is that there was alot of mass killing done by the germans . They did it by sending the Jews to concentration camps and send them to the gas chamber for execution , in the end it killed many jews by the end of the war.

Web scammer drove himself to jail

I personally feel that people should not do web scamming as it is wrong.People should also try to be more careful when reading an online advertisment.Some advertisments may not be trusted while some can be but still no matter what we do , we must think twice before taking action.We should also be on the look out for other scammers out there and be on our guard.

Obama to donate peace prize money

I personally feel that Obama is really generous to donate money from his nobel prize to help the veterans' families and the survivors of the Haiti earthquake among others drawing attention to the organisations.The veterans' families and the survivors of the haiti earthquake would be really happy when they hear about it.In my opinion , we should also do the same by donating generously as there are people who are less fortunate than us.

Unruly SIA passenger jailed

In my opinion , I feel that the passenger should not threaten to open the emergency exit in the midway as it is very dangerous.He also should not disturb the passengers as the passengers may get irritated by him or passengers who are children may get frightened by him.In my opinion, passengers should not behave like this in an air plane as passengers would be really scared, we should all behave during an airplane trip to let them have a good impression of you.

Baby elephant shuffles along path to recovery

I feel that the calf is a really strong animal even though it had a traumatic labour.The calf is also really cute and very independent on its own . The calf still needs ongoing care from his dedicated keepers and veterinary team who are working 24 hours a day to ensure its welfare.Although the calf isn't as robust as the other calves , he is very independent and does not need to be assist by any workers.In my opinion we all should be like the calf , being able to rely on ourselves and don't need any assistant.

My most memorable experience

My most memorable experience was the time when we all had our graduation tea.
The day we went there was on 3rd november 2009.On the very day itself we had to assemble in school by 10am . I went to school with a classmate who lives near by , when we reached there , many people were dressed beautifully and everybody was very excited about the graduation tea
some people were even taking pictures with their friends! At 10.30am, we all assembled at the hall for briefing, then we went up the bus to go to our venue , the Singapore Swimming Club.We all got our gifts and went in to the function room. In the middle , we have a stage where all of us had to perform later.Firstly we had games like guessing the songs , passing the paper and more.
After the games, we all went to get food and we got drinks for ourselves , at this time time people began taking class photos.Right after that we had performances put up by us!When it was our turn to perform we were really nervous, our classmate told us that if we make mistakes in our dance steps , we have to keep dancing.We had so much fun doing the dance , we were really proud of ourselves. Right after everything was over we all went to the dance floor to dance and most of us were singing!Sadly, it all ended really soon. I enjoyed the graduation tea very much as it was like the time of our lives.I enjoyed myself really much as the graduation tea is the time where we can really celebrate with our friends.
